Week 4 Update

Kia ora Whanau

Thank you to those of you who came along to the PTA Fun Night.  I really enjoyed catching up with all of you at the Learning Conferences last week.  I certainly value the parent/teacher relationship.

Worms Our worm team have been looking after the worms very well.  The worms are very comfortable and have been producing quite a bit of 'product'!  Please could you send your child to school with one or two empty 2 litre plastic milk bottles.  Please could you also support the children with this project and purchase some worm juice (An excellent source of fertiliser for your plants and vegetables!) Just $2 for 2 litres.  Remember to dilute 1:3.

Homework Please could you encourage your child to read and learn their basic facts each evening.  Please could you sign their diaries.

Walk/Wheel Wednesday I have attached a letter for your family to get involved.  There are prizes!

Swimming Sports takes place on Wednesday 7 March at 12.30pm at Jellie Park.  If you can assist on the day please let Linda Ewen know.  Class swimming will continue for another 2 to 3 weeks.

Camp will take place on 9-11 May (Week 2 Term 2)

PE We have enjoyed the coaching from the CBHS students.  They will be with us for the next 3 weeks.

Curriculum
In maths we will finish our unit on World stats and will continue with stats using a reaction time activity to learn about stem-leaf graphs and median, means and modes.
In literacy we will continue with a focus on writing.
For Inquiry we will discuss the way we see ourselves and how this affects our behaviour.  This discussion will be based around the clas book 'Rising Tide' by Sarina Dickson.
Ms Knowles will be running a 2 day art workshop in the next few weeks.
