Week 9 Update

Kia ora Whanau

Hats for TERM 4

Please, remember that In TERM 4, you will have to bring your SCHOOL HATS back to school NEXT TERM. If you don’t own a school hat, then please go buy one or stay In the shade at school so you don’t get sun burnt or get very sweaty while staying In the sun!

Also, please don’t put sunscreen on and use It as an excuse. Sunscreen doesn't fully take care of your skin, and It doesn't stay on for long.

                                              Art trip

Yesterday (20/9/17) we (RM 1) went on our art trip, here's some things we did at the art trip:

We had some art lessons with 2 art teachers,
We looked at some Bridget Riley’s art,
And since we went there early, the 2 art teachers were kind enough to let us watch the BLADE made from Len Lye.

The art technique we got learnt was called pointillism. Pointillism Is a kind of art, but Instead of painting, we had to use a dotting technique, It was fun but we didn’t get to finish the art.

The art gallery had so many interesting ideas of painting and It had other cool things that wasn't related to art since the art gallery wasn’t just about art, It’s about other things too right?

                                             Fish release
Tomorrow, we will be releasing our fish from our fish tank to Avon River that Is just between University of Canterbury and Ilam school.

The reason why we want to release them Is because, In the fish tank, when It was feeding time, fish feeder’s saw a few fishes jump In the water which Is very talented!

                                                 Literacy & Maths

In Room 1 for Maths we have been learning about Scale, angles, maps, and we’re now going back to place value.

In Room 1 for Literacy, the whole class has been writing about the Hangi that just happened a week ago (14/9/17), It wasn’t just a normal writing about the Hangi, but It was an interesting one! Half of the class has done writing about the Hangi.

The student’s who has finished writing about the Hangi, they had a much cooler activity to do! They had to make a Duality map, they first had to plan a Duality map In their literacy book. Then they had 2 choice to chose from, they could make their Duality map on Piccollage, or either do It on a big coloured hardstock paper.

Literacy and Maths has been going very we’ll these days, everyone loved what they we’re learning and writing about.
