Week 8 Update

Kia ora Whanau

The big highlight of the week was the visit by 5 'famous' people!  We will be using the challenges faced by famous people as a springboard to look at the challenges we face and how we can overcome them.

Worms
The worm team is doing a fantastic job in producing fertiliser.  The fertiliser is great for the garden, especially at this time of year.  A bottle only costs $2 and this is to be diluted in the rate 1:3.  ie Pour fertiliser into a bucket and fill the bucket with water.  Give your mixture a stir and apply.

Please could you support the children by purchasing a bottle or two of fertiliser.

Homework
Thank you for signing your children's homework.  This really assists them to get into sound learning habits.

Curriculum
We will continue with place value in maths and turn our focus to reading in literacy.  We will start to look at the challenges famous people faced on their road to becoming famous.

Week 6 Update

Kia ora Whanau

Swimming sports was very successful.  A number of Room 1 students did well.  A few reminders:-
1.  Please could you support the worm project by purchasing a bottle or two of fertiliser.  Great time for growth in the garden!
2.  Thank you for supporting your child with their homework.  Each day there are still about half a dozen children not handing in their diary.  Please could you check that your child has their diary and that it is in their school bag ready for the next day.  We have started our spelling programme so half the children in the class will have spelling words to learn over and above their basic facts and reading.
3.  We achieved a class record of 16 children walking to school on Wednesday.  I would like to see all our children walking or wheeling to school.  Please could you support your child by dropping them off 200m from school if you bring your child to school in the car.

Upcoming events:
11am Tuesday 13 March  Senior School duathlon
Thursday 29 March First winter sport trial
Tuesday 10 April School Cross Country
9-11 May Room 1 and 4 Camp

Curriculum:
