Week 3 Update

Kia Ora koutou

Although it will be sad saying good-bye to the Year 6's at the end of the year I'm delighted that the Year 5's will be returning to Room 1 next year.

We were blessed with a fantastic Canterbury day for our Athletics Sports on Tuesday.  Everyone really enjoyed themselves and tried their best.  There will be a big cricket focus over the next 3 weeks before we start our swimming programme in Week 7.

We have been learning about statistics in maths.  We have looked at the worldometer and discussed the impact of the statistics.  We have also discussed the impact of the number of cars passing the school.  Yesterday we measured ourselves and compared our heights to our heights in February. There was discussion around the amount we have grown and we made predictions about how much we will grow in the following year.

We have finished our readers and begin a unit on persuasive writng next week.  There was a great deal of excitement as we designed our kites which we will be building later in the term.  Our Puberty unit starts on Monday.  We have a question box in the class which has been well used.  We will be having some fun and interesting discussions in the next couple of weeks!

Reminders:  Parent/Teacher interviews take place in week 7 and our class celebration takes place at the end of week 7.

Have a great weekend
Nga mihi nui
Nigel
