Update of Week 6

Kia Ora Whanau

Update of Week 6
I was very proud of the way that the children handled all their assessments in Week 6.  It was an extremely busy week.  It was great to see the children learning off eachother in maths.  The Maori phrase for that is 'Tuakana Teina'.  There are some wonderful pictures of this on our blog.  It was very exciting to receive the 'We are...' poster from Torbay School.  We are enjoying our Kiwisport with the CBHS lads

Week 7
In literacy this week we will be doing some poetry focussing on writing some limericks.  In maths we will continue to focus on place value and number and we will be using the tuakana teina principle again.  We will do our last bit of self portrait practising.  After camp we will do the real thing!  A big focus for the week will be our camp preparation.

Camp essentials
The following items will need to be brought to school on Tuesday:
1 X jacket
2 X thermals
1 x tracksuit pants
cup, plate, knife, fork and spoon
1 X jersey/track-suit top/hoodie
1 X beanie
1 X camp bag/suitcase

All items MUST be labelled.

Sport in Week 7

  • Class swimming is now finished.  (We will swim at Wainui next week).  I will supervise voluntary lunchtime swims on Thursday and Friday.  Friday will be the last of the lunchtime swims.
  • Duathlon takes place on Thursday.  Children to bring a bike or scooter to school if at all possible.
  • 2 sessions of Kiwisport
  • 5 very lucky boys will attend an exclusive rugby training session with The Crusaders.
