Week 3 and 4 Update

Kia ora Whanau

We are very excited about the river clean-up which takes place at 1pm on Wednesday 22 August.  Thank you very much to the parents who have offered to help.  We have also received support from the Council, Room 4, PTA and the Student Volunteer Army.  It should be a great community event.

Speeches take place in week 6.  Please could you support your child with this learning activity.  There is information on your e-mail about the speeches.

Next week is Book week.  Please could you assist your child on Thursday to come to school dressed as their favourite character.

We are looking forward to the Ilam Music Showcase on Tuesday 28 August.

Room 1 will be running Assembly in Week 8.

Cycle Safety takes place from 10-17 September for the Year 6's.  Please could you ensure that your child has a road worthy bike.  If it is not possible for your child to get a bike please notify me and we will arrange with the Council to bring a bike for your child.

Curriculum focus
In literacy the focus will be on the speeches, how to prepare and deliver a quality speech.  In maths we continue to focus on fractions.

Thank you for signing your child's respective homework diaries.

We are looking forward to our art workshop on Monday, run by Ms Knowles and Connor will be teaching us some coding in week 6.

The Explore time Sports Academy were most fortunate to get a tour of the University Recreational Centre.  We were treated to a fitness session with Sarah, current fitness instructor and she also has a son at Ilam!

Not the desired location for a road cone!

Matisse presented her journal from her recent trip to America.
