Week 9 Update

Kia Ora Whanau

Amazing to think that Week 10 is our last full week of the term!  The term finishes at 3pm on Thursday 13 April.

We are enjoying learning about trench warfare in the First World War.  Please could you encourage your child to have a go at making a poppy.  Instructions are on a couple of posts earlier.  We will continue with this unit for the next two weeks.  We will be making ANZAC biscuits next week on Wednesday.  I'm really hoping that we will be able to acquire some sand bags and camouflage nets as well!

Place value is still our major focus in maths with some children starting to learn about fractions.

In Art we have completed our pencil self portraits.  Please pop in to class and have a look.  On Wednesday we will be doing some silhouette art with a War theme.

Our last Inquiry activity this term will be to make a Family Crest.  Thank you to all the families who have sent in taonga (family treasures) for our class display.  We will also be finishing our Digital mihis.

Sport
We had our first round of winter sport trials on Friday.  The second and final round of trials are on Friday.  The School Cross Country takes place on Wednesday 12 April, starting at 1.15pm.

Reminders
Please send you child to school with a school hat.  Just 9 more days of this before we have a 6 month break on hats.  Please also remember to check that your child has a drink bottle.

Have a great week

Nga mihi nui
